$118,364.51 awarded to WISD!

The Waco ISD Education Foundation's "SurPrize Patrol" has once again produced hundreds of smiles throughout the district by awarding more than $118-thousand in grants. The decisions were tough, but 31 grants were awarded to 26 campuses. The Foundation is pleased to have so many fantastic teachers in Waco ISD with creative ideas about how to do more in the classroom. Through their motivation and the Foundation's funding, we are truly Raising the Power of Education in Waco!

Students will create a garden that coincides with the book “The Secret Garden,” while also allowing them to study horticulture.

Brazos Middle
Marching Drum Mania $2,795
Marching percussion equipment will be purchased to provide daily practice for student musicians.

G.W. Carver Academy

A large collection of unique Martian artifacts and texts, create an authentic archive and repository which will hopefully attract visitors nationally.

North Waco Elementary
Mastering the Art Masters $599.68
Films and books featuring renown artists will provide second though fifth grade students with information about the artist and the time period of their artwork.

Waco High
German Exchange: Working together to discover language and culture $3,978
Funding will provide a group travel for 13 students and one teacher for a month in Germany while students explore the country and culture.

Waco ISD Advanced Academics
UIL Academics - Uniting Schools for Academic Success $2,765
A district-wide UIL Practice Meet will enhance student achievement at Waco High, University High and A.J. Moore Academy.
